Jo Bird Win The Queen's Award For Enterprise

21st April 2013

I am delighted to announce that Jo Bird & Company Limited have been awarded the Queen's Award for Enterprise in International Trade 2013.

Since the Company was formed 27 years ago, we have steadily built an enviable reputation for world-class products designed to meet the most testing of operational environments.

We recently carried out a fundamental strategic review of our operations including product design and manufacturing processes. In response to the ensuing customer feedback, we set about enhancing our products to meet the new environmental challenges of the increasingly extreme climates in which you, our customers and contractors, are operating. This included designing robust products to successfully perform with longevity in extreme arctic, desert and hurricane conditions. For the Gorgon Project in Australia, cabinets were designed to withstand a once in 100 year cyclone with wind speeds up to 200mph. A welcome consequence of such responsive product development has seen outstanding 3-year export growth of 141%.

I am very proud of our achievements in becoming an internationally recognised brand and am particularly proud of the individual contributions made by every member of the team at our Somerset factory. Without their dedication and commitment to continually deliver quality products and customer service, our international and substantial domestic trade success could not have been achieved. The Queen's Award for Enterprise will undoubtedly enhance our international reputation and help us to grow our business in existing and new world markets in the years ahead.

Of course, none of this would have been possible without our customers, contractors and suppliers. I would like therefore, to also take this opportunity to thank you for your support.
