In Fire Risk Management's Market Developements Focus in the May 2009 issue, 'Take Cover' was the title given to this article which explores the growing need for protection to be given to portable fire extinguishers in vulnerable areas. Public buildings, in particular, are exposed to the risks of extinguisher misplacement, misuse neglect and vandalism. Some practical solutions are discussed and a number of case studies presented showing how some organisations have reduced or virtually eradicated the problems.
